Over recent years you are probably abusing your body more and more by not treating your body with the respect it deserves. This happens by putting on weight, not getting enough exercise and smoking and drinking to excess.
If you are a parent, when your children were born you provided them with the best foods, sterilised all of their eating utensils and gave them the best of everything. Yet you never look after yourself in this way so stop for a moment and think, if anything was to happen to you, what would happen to your children?
By not treating your body with respect you are running the risk of leaving your children parentless after caring for them so efficiently in their infant years.
It takes determination to change your way of life for the better. You are so set in your comfort zone that you cannot see the pounds going on or your lack of breath when you attempt anything remotely physical.
Remember, to get the best from your body you must treat it to the best. It is no good being full of regret lying in a hospital bed partly paralysed after suffering a stroke.
The only way to look after yourself is to treat your body with the respect that you demand from others.
Regular medical checks must be a priority. Responding to the doctor’s advice is the only way to overcome any complaint that your inertia has inflicted on you.
The most common complaint that many people suffer with is hypertension or high blood pressure as you know it. Although these are complaints you have probably heard of, very few will do anything about it.
This is why heart disease has reached epidemic proportions because hypertension is one of the main causes of it. If not controlled, high blood pressure can cause strokes, kidney failure, eyesight deterioration and many more associated illnesses.
These findings are not new as surveys are carried out on a regular basis and the results are well publicised. But still you choose to just hope that you will be all right and keep putting off your visit to the doctor.
The only person that can control your health is yourself so it is time to care for your body as well as you care for your car!

I’m 16 years old, 5′8” and about 165 lbs.
I have really high blood pressure but it’s not in my immediate family, I eat a lot of junk food and I take a certain medication for my adhd.
I went to the doctors and my blood pressure was really high, how can I bring it down? She suggested to reduce my sodium intake but what else can I do to lower it?
Please, I’m only 16 and this is really scary for me.

Altace is the brand name for a drug whose generic name is Ramipril. ramipril is a part of group of compounds known as Angiotensin Converting Enzyme inhibitors better known as ACE inhibitors. The action obstructs ACE from converting angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a strong vasoconstrictor, leading to lower the blood pressure. These medicines are prescribed to help treat high blood pressure and heart malfunctions in patients especially after a cardiac arrest.
Altace must be taken as prescribed by the doctor and the dosage must be regulated properly if one suffers from a kidney or liver disease, diabetes or some severe allergic reaction. One must also be careful to avoid Altace if allergic to Ramipril or any associated ACE inhibitor compound such as benazepril (Lotensin), captopril (Capoten), fosinopril (Monopril), enalapril (Vasotec ) etc. It is advisable to undergo a test to confirm this.
The use of this drug is restricted to those who are pregnant or planning on a pregnancy. Altace causes severe birth defects in the baby and one must instantly stop this medication in case of established pregnancy.
Alcohol consumption must be avoided at any cost. It can reduce blood pressure and may add to the side effects of this drug. Salt or potassium substitutes must also be avoided while taking these tablets, unless instructed by the doctor. Loss of water in the form of vomiting, diarrhea or excessive sweating can cause low blood pressure, electrolyte imbalances, or kidney failure while taking Altace. Consume ample amounts of water every day while on this medication.
Get blood pressure tested regularly and kidney and liver function tests must also be done periodically to track and avoid the possible side effect of the medication. In case of some surgery to be undergone by the patient, prior information must be given to the doctor so that the prescription is modified or stopped altogether based on the case at hand.
